ABOUT THE EHA CHAPTER

The WCAPS East and Horn of Africa (EHA) Chapter is a collaborative regional platform representing women peace builders from diverse backgrounds across 12 Member Countries:

Burundi, Djibouti, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia,Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, we are committed to bringing together a diverse professional network of women and centering the representation, voices and contribution of under-represented, marginalized and vulnerable groups towards achieving equality and long-term peace for the continent and the world.


MISSION

To Cultivate, Connect, Champion, and Celebrate an empowered and inclusive community of women leaders and peacebuilders advancing peace and security in the East and Horn of Africa region and the broader African continent.

 

VISION

We envision a peaceful and secure Africa where women from all diverse backgrounds are empowered, protected, respected and treated with dignity.


CHAPTER GOALS

Goal 1:   Build a Network of Peacebuilders

Identify, map, connect and build a strong network of women peacebuilders with a wide-ranging background and from diverse sectors in the peace and security field.

Goal 2: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Foster a culture of oneness and a sense of belongingness for all women peacebuilders security in the region by centering diversity and equality, and inclusivity.

Goal 3:  Empowering and Uplifting Women

Advocate for more representation, leadership and decision-making opportunities for women in the peace and security fields in the region

Goal 4:  Problem-Solving and Innovation

Expose shared challenges women peacebuilders are faced with and scale up collective innovative solutions that promote peace and security in the region and broader continent.

Goal 5: Support System and Shared Learning

Create a ‘safe haven’ where women peacebuilders and organizations working on peace and security in the region can share experiences, work together and support each other.

Goal 6Leadership and Impact

Be inspiring leaders and positive influencers of change in our communities, countries, region and Africa as a whole through our varied contributions and expertise by seeking and advancing sustainable solutions in advancing  peace and security.

Goal 7:  Partnerships, Capacity and Resource-building

Develop a collective platform for sharing resources including but not limited to networking and partnership events, intergenerational dialogues, podcasts, learning materials, joint financial grants sources, mentoring and job opportunities.
