Jamila White is an international development specialist with more than a decade of experience managing, designing, implementing, and supporting agric/agribusiness, economic growth, education, and emergency response programs in Sub-Sahara Africa. Before starting her career in development, Jamila obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Hampton University and Masters in Public Administration, with concentration in Economic Development and International Affairs, from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs.

Jamila, a native of the DMV, started her journey in international development after studying abroad in Senegal her sophomore year of college. Jamila has spent the majority of her career  ‘in the field’ working on several development initiatives however the most personally rewarding was her time spent as an Ebola fighter where Jamila managed the National Ebola Response Call Center.

In April, Jamila will join Mercy Corps as their Senior Africa Representative. Jamila is an Aspen Institute International Career Advancement Program (ICAP) Fellow,   serves on the board of the Africa Summit, is the co-chair of the Society for International Development's Young Professional Network, mentor and volunteer with College Bound, and a Strategic Advisor for One World Exchange.
