Operational responsibility for climate resilience, environmental education, recreation, urban planning, conservation, sustainability, port/maritime industry and integrated related program areas of the Waterfront Alliance.


Mission

Create a space for women of color in climate-related discussions and initiatives. Today more than ever before climate change is at the top of the list in discussions surrounding our environment. Maintaining a platform where WOC will build discussions on climate related issues in addition to building a network where organizations and experts in the field work hand in hand to share solutions on how best to save and heal our planet.


Purpose

  1. Maintain the integration of an intersectional gender perspective into existing and future climate policy frameworks that will create a platform for diverse voices. 

  2. Review the landscape of climate change organizations to determine with whom the working group can collaborate

Goals

  1. Create a network of WOC who engage in  climate-related activities:

  2. Determine the focus of the groups on issues of climate change and draft policy papers and policy briefs;

  3. Conduct interviews with women in the field; and

  4. Host seminars and discussions to raise awareness of the issues.
