Mission

WCAPS Asia and the Pacific Working Group aims to foster a community of women of color with a background or interest in the Asia region, in order to promote an exchange of ideas, professional development, and worldwide connectivity of women of color Asia experts.

  Purpose

  1. To connect WCAPS members with a background or interest in Asia and the Pacific

  2. To create networking and mentorship opportunities for growing the ranks of women of color who work on issues in the field of Asia and the Pacific peace, security, and conflict transformation 

  3. To inspire young women of color to pursue their interests in Asia and the Pacific policy, peace, security, and/or conflict transformation 


Goals

  1. Build a community of women who care about, are studying, or are working on issues related to Asia and the Pacific

  2. Amplify the voices of women of color studying or working on peace, security, and conflict transformation in Asia and the Pacific, and Asia policy

  3. Provide a platform for women of color to openly discuss regional policies and activities in a way that intersects with other working groups and the WCAPS goal of redefining national security

  4. Cultivate networking and outward-facing opportunities for members

  5. Celebrate the diversity of cultures represented in the large area known as Asia and the Pacific
